Job summary

Dulux Trade Centres in New Plymouth is seeking a part-time Retail Assistant to join our team. This 25-hour per week role runs Monday to Friday with occasional 4-hour Saturday shifts, and extra hours to cover leave or in-store events.

You will help customers, provide colour advice, mix and tint paint, process sales, and keep the store welcoming and well-organised. A customer-focused attitude and strong communication skills are essential; prior retail or service experience is a bonus.

• Previous experience in retail, customer service, trade, hospitality, or sales is advantageous but not essential.
• Physically fit and capable of safely lifting paint products up to 25kg.

Responsibilities

• Building strong relationships with trade and DIY customers and providing outstanding service every day
• Providing product recommendations, colour advice, and practical solutions to help customers complete their projects
• Supporting store sales growth through customer engagement, upselling opportunities, and promoting our products and services
• Mixing and tinting paint accurately while maintaining high-quality standards
• Processing sales transactions, invoices, and customer orders with a high level of accuracy
• Assisting with stock management, merchandising, and maintaining an organised and welcoming store environment
• Supporting a culture of safety and ensuring all tasks are completed in line with company procedures

What You'll Be Doing

This is a part timerole based at our New Plymouth store.It is a fixed 25 hour a week job, Monday - Friday with the occasional Saturday shift on top which is 4 hours, plus extra hours when required to cover leave and instore events.
