Job summary

Citycare Water is seeking two Trade Assistants to join the Pumps & Storage Team in Christchurch, with roles in the Vacuum and Mechanical Teams. You’ll work outdoors, maintaining and repairing pumps, pipes and pump stations while supporting planned and reactive works across multiple sites.

Ideal candidates are hands-on, safety-conscious, and capable of independent work or as part of a team. A Class 1 licence is required; additional certifications such as STMS or First Aid are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in a trade, maintenance, civil construction, water, wastewater, or similar hands-on environment.
• Some welding experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a safety focus.
• Strong health and safety awareness and practices.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• A full Class 1 driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair vacuum pumps, mechanical assets, pipework and pump station infrastructure.
• Support both planned and reactive works across multiple sites.
• Contribute to a safe, efficient outdoor work environment and teamwork.
