Job summary

Halter is seeking a Test Lab Technician to join our Auckland lab. You will set up, run and monitor hardware tests, move collars between test rigs, and ensure production and verification jigs perform reliably.

You’ll maintain lab equipment, build and modify test fixtures, and implement systems for traceability and efficiency while collaborating with engineers to deliver high-quality test results.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a lab, workshop, production or field service environment with electronics/mechatronics/engineering background.
• Practical hands-on skills: tools, mechanical assembly, soldering and wiring, use of test equipment like multimeters and power supplies.
• Genuine care for accuracy and process discipline; follow procedures and record data.
• Natural organiser; build systems to keep things in place and running smoothly.
• Ownership mindset; act without being asked and communicate clearly with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run and monitor hardware tests to documented test plans.
• Move, install and reconfigure collars across test setups.
• Operate production and verification test jigs for collars.
• Maintain lab equipment: servicing, calibration checks and spare parts.
• Move, install and commission new lab equipment with suppliers and internal teams.
• Assemble and modify test equipment and fixtures for upcoming builds.
• Implement lab organisation systems: labeling, storage, tracking and stock levels.
• Keep clear test records to support investigations and reports.
