Job summary

Personnel Resources is seeking two Supervisors to oversee and manage orchard operations in Whakatane. The role focuses on quality, safety, and productivity, with an hourly rate of 28–32 and guaranteed hours.

You will supervise workers, train staff, coordinate schedules, monitor performance, and report to management. Experience or a level 4 qualification is required, and drug/alcohol testing is mandatory.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and allocate tasks to orchard workers to ensure efficient workflow.
• Monitor staff performance and provide guidance, feedback, and on-the-job training.
• Ensure work is completed to required quality and productivity standards.
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and induction of seasonal or new workers.
• Plan and organise daily and weekly work schedules in line with operational priorities.
• Ensure all activities follow company procedures and timelines.
• Monitor workflow efficiency and implement improvements where needed.
• Liaise with management regarding progress, staffing needs, and challenges.
• Ensure workers comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety briefings and enforce safe work practices.
• Identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Maintain records of attendance and productivity.
• Prepare reports on workforce performance for management.

Hourly rate: $28 - $32 per hour.

Guaranteed hours: 30 per week.

Maximum hours: 55 per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, coordinate, and allocate tasks to orchard workers to ensure efficient workflow
• Monitor staff performance and provide guidance, feedback, and on-the-job training
• Ensure work is completed to required quality and productivity standards
• Address routine staff issues and lift complex matters to management
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and induction of seasonal or new workers
• Plan and organise daily and weekly work schedules in line with operational priorities
• Ensure all assigned activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and timelines
• Monitor workflow efficiency and implement improvements where required
• Liaise regularly with management regarding progress, staffing needs, and operational challenges
• Ensure all workers comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures
• Conduct regular safety briefings and enforce safe work practices
• Identify, report, and assist in mitigating workplace hazards
• Ensure appropriate use of equipment and adherence to operational standards
• Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, productivity, and task completion
• Track team performance against targets and operational requirements
• Prepare reports for management outlining workforce performance, issues, and recommendations
• Oversee the appropriate use and care of tools, equipment, and operational resources
• Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained in good working condition
• Monitor resource utilisation to support efficient operations and minimise waste

Required Qualifications or Experience

• 2 year experience or level 4 qualification.
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing.
