Job summary

The University of Waikato invites applications for a creative, student-centred learning designer to collaborate with academic staff across face-to-face, online, blended and hybrid courses at Hamilton campus.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Teaching Design and Innovation Studio, the role focuses on evidence-based learning design, inclusive access via UDL, and continuous improvement using feedback and analytics; salary starts at $87,624 pro-rata and is negotiable.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in education, instructional design or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least three years in learning design or educational development across face-to-face, blended and online environments.
• Solid understanding of learning theories, assessment design, active learning and inclusive teaching practices.
• Experience applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility standards to inclusive learning experiences.
• Strong consultation and facilitation skills guiding academics through collaborative design.
• Ability to manage multiple learning design projects concurrently with competing priorities.
• Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and mātauranga Māori in practice.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality courses and learning experiences across face-to-face, online, blended and hybrid environments.
• Apply evidence-based learning design principles to help academics build constructively aligned courses with clear outcomes and effective assessment.
• Provide practical guidance on the LMS and educational technologies.
• Apply Universal Design for Learning to ensure inclusive access for every student.
• Use student feedback and learning analytics to support ongoing improvement.
