Job summary

Appleby School invites an inspiring teacher and leader to join as Teaching Deputy Principal from January 2027. The role combines four days of classroom teaching with a leadership focus on pastoral care through PP4L, requiring manaakitanga and ako across our tamariki and kaiako.

The successful candidate will model māia in pedagogy, lead school-wide PP4L initiatives, and champion inclusive practice to ensure kura remains accessible and data-informed for improved learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in leadership roles within a primary/intermediate school is desirable.
• Proven ability to implement refreshed curricula and promote inclusive practices.
• Ability to use data-driven insights to improve student learning and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Lead four days of classroom teaching with a leadership focus on pastoral care and wellbeing (PP4L).
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students and whānau.
• Lead school-wide PP4L initiatives and pastoral care systems.

This pivotal role involves four days of classroom teaching alongside a leadership focus on pastoral care through a PP4L (Positive Practice for Learning) lens. We seek a teacher and leader who demonstrates māia (bravery) in their pedagogy, manaaki (care) for our community, and a deep commitment to ako (learning).

The successful candidate will:
