Job summary

HealthCare NZ is seeking dedicated Support Workers in Whanganui to assist clients at home and within the community. You will follow care plans, provide practical and emotional support, and help clients achieve independence.

Benefits include a clear career pathway with NZQA qualifications fully funded. Shifts cover mornings and evenings, with travel required within the region. You must have the right to work in New Zealand and a valid NZ driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or caregiving is advantageous.
• Full NZ driver's licence and own transport are required.
• Willingness to undergo police vetting and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients to live as independently as possible at home and in the community.
• Follow each client's care plan, providing practical and emotional support.
• Meal preparation and home management tasks.
• Personal cares (showering, toileting, etc.).
• Medication administration and monitoring.
• Support clients with community outings and integration.

Mon: 7–10 AM, 5:30–6 PM
Tue: OFF
Wed: OFF
Thu: 8–10 AM, 5:30–6 PM
Fri: 8–10 AM, 5–6 PM
Sat: 8–10 AM, 5–6 PM
Sun: 8–10 AM, 5–6 PM

What does a Support Worker do?

As part of a wider team, you will assist our clients to live as independently as possible, within their homes and community. You will help our clients to achieve their goals and reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support. Responsibilities can be varied and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:

• Meal preparation
• Community outings and integration
• Giving medication
• Personal cares (showering, toileting etc)
• Home management
