Job summary

AWF is recruiting for entry-level summer positions, primarily in Traffic Management, with Labouring opportunities expected. Roles are based around Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua, offering a pathway to ongoing work for the right people.

Training is provided; AWF covers the cost of the one-day course, with a commitment from you to complete it. You will need a valid Class 1 licence or access to transport, and readiness for early starts from 7:00am.

Qualifications

• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Must have a Restricted or Full Class 1 licence or reliable access to public transport.
• Must have a mobile phone for regular communication.
• Must be able to travel to Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua sites.
• Must be available for early starts (around 7:00am).
• Must be able to pass pre-employment checks and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must be able to pass Ministry of Justice check.

Responsibilities

• Work on various sites around Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua.
• Assist with traffic management and labouring duties as opportunities arise.
• Attend training and comply with safety and screening requirements.

AWF is currently recruiting for a range of entry-level summer jobs, mainly in Traffic Management, with more Labouring opportunities expected to become available over the coming months.

These roles could be a great fit if you're a school leaver or student looking for summer work, and there may be opportunities to continue working beyond summer for the right people, depending on available work.

What could you be doing?

You could be working on different sites around Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua, with opportunities primarily in:

• Other entry-level site-based work as opportunities become available

For Traffic Management roles, AWF will cover the full cost of your one-day training course and qualification. You just need to commit one day of your own time to complete the training.

What do you need?

You will need to:

• Have a Restricted or Full Class 1 licence and your own vehicle, OR reliable access to public transport
• Be reliable and punctual
• Have access to a mobile phone for regular communication
• Be able to travel to different work sites around Wellington, Lower Hutt and Porirua
• Be available for early starts, with shifts typically starting from around 7:00am
• Be flexible — your work location and start time can change from day to day
• Be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screening
• Be able to pass a Ministry of Justice check

A typical week could look like...

One day you might be starting at 7:00am in Johnsonville, and the next you could be starting at 8:30am in Miramar — so being flexible and able to get yourself to different locations is important!
