Job summary

The Ministry of Social Development in Wellington is seeking a Principal Procurement Specialist to lead our most strategic social procurement initiatives. You will develop frameworks, provide expert advice, and guide policy interpretation to ensure procurement supports MSD's outcomes for New Zealanders.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in social procurement, ideally within the public sector.
MCIPS or relevant tertiary qualification.
Experience working with stakeholders on complex procurement programmes and initiatives.
Sound understanding of the social commissioning lifecycle and government procurement policies and processes.

Responsibilities

Lead complex procurement programmes and provide expert advice on procurement matters.
Develop strategic approaches, frameworks, and guidance to support quality procurement practices.
Coach and mentor teams to build procurement capability across MSD.
Collaborate with leaders and agencies to promote best practice in social procurement.
