Waikato District Council is seeking a Corporate Planner to join the Strategy & Growth team, shaping the district's future through strategic planning and policy development. You will work with diverse stakeholders, coordinate community engagement and help ensure statutory obligations are met.

The role focuses on guiding long-term planning, annual plans, and policy initiatives, with an emphasis on delivering positive outcomes for residents and communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in corporate planning, strategic planning, policy development in local government.
• Experience managing projects and supporting planning or policy initiatives.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across a range of stakeholders and interests.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering quality outcomes.
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, te ao Maaori and tikanga Maaori.

Responsibilities

• Support development of the Council's Annual Report and ensure legislative compliance.
• Assist with prep and review of Long-Term Plans and Annual Plans.
• Support development and review of Council policies and bylaws.
• Coordinate community engagement and consultation under the Local Government Act.
• Monitor and report on strategic objectives and KPIs.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement across planning systems and processes.
