Job summary

Statistics NZ in Wellington is seeking a Senior Advisor – Marketing and Communications on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027. The role sits in the Communications Team and provides strategic and tactical marketing and communications support across programmes, translating complex data into clear communications for diverse audiences.

You will partner with senior leaders and specialists to shape plans and content, ensuring the value of data is communicated effectively.

Qualifications

• At least five years in a senior communications/marketing role.
• Exceptional writing and editing abilities for strategic, technical content.
• Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building with stakeholders.
• Track record providing high-quality advice to senior leaders.
• Ability to switch between strategic thinking and operational communications.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational communications support for complex, high-priority programmes across Stats NZ.
• Translate complex data and programme information into clear, accessible communications.
• Develop fit-for-purpose communications plans and content.
• Work with senior leaders and technical specialists to strengthen understanding of data value.
