Job summary

This newly created role focuses on delivering key initiatives from the 24/7 Monitoring and Response Capability Review, driving resilience and national capability.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in emergency management, incident management, business analysis, systems development or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response frameworks and experience delivering technology-enabled solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects, influence stakeholders and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and relationship management skills, with a strategic and solution-focused mindset.
  • A passion for innovation, continuous improvement and enhancing New Zealand’s emergency response capability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, development and continuous improvement of incident management systems and digital tools that support emergency response and national resilience.
  • Partner with scientists, technology teams and emergency management stakeholders to design user-centred solutions and optimise response processes.
  • Act as Product Owner for key systems, gathering requirements, prioritising enhancements and ensuring solutions deliver measurable value.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and integrating emerging technologies, while representing Earth Sciences NZ in national forums and sector-wide initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships across government, emergency management and science communities to influence best practice and future capability.
