Job summary

Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport in Wellington seeks a Financial Controller on a fixed-term secondment to cover parental leave until May 2027. You will lead finance across reporting, controls, and partnerships with the CFO-Transport.

This role requires strong public sector accounting knowledge, NZ GAAP, and proven leadership. The location is Wellington, and the salary range is NZD 138,372 to 172,372 per year.

Qualifications

• Public sector accounting knowledge and experience.
• Proven leadership experience with coaching/mentoring.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Finance work plan with the CFO-Transport.
• Oversee financial reporting, month-end and year-end processes.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, expenses, cash and tax compliance.
