Job summary

Watercare Services Limited is seeking a Strategic Delivery Analyst to provide the structure, analysis and insight behind Auckland’s strategic portfolio. You’ll help leaders prioritise initiatives, understand trade‑offs, and inform investment decisions with robust scenario analysis.

Working with senior leaders and delivery teams, you will maintain a single source of truth for benefits, costs and timelines, while supporting intake, shaping and performance assurance to drive pace and value across

Qualifications

• Proven experience in portfolio analytics, strategy, finance, consulting, commercial analysis or transformation roles.
• Strong analytical capability and financial modelling skills.
• Experience supporting business cases and executive decision‑making.
• Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a single source of truth – bring together benefits, costs, resourcing and timelines to provide a reliable, decision-useful view of the strategic portfolio.
• Support initiative intake and shaping – ensure new proposals are well‑defined, robust and commercially sound.
• Provide analytical insight to inform decisions – test assumptions, model alternatives and develop clear scenario analysis and insight packs for Executive forums.
• Identify trade‑offs and opportunities – highlight cross‑portfolio dependencies, constraints and optimisation opportunities.
• Support delivery performance and assurance – analyse progress, identify emerging risks, and contribute to solving issues for in‑flight initiatives.

About the role

At Watercare, we’re delivering a significant programme of strategic change to support Auckland’s future — and we’re looking for a Strategic Delivery Analyst to help ensure our leaders have the insight and information they need to make confident, high-quality decisions. This is a key role within our Strategic Projects Office, sitting at the centre of our strategic portfolio and playing a critical part in shaping how initiatives are prioritised, understood, and delivered. As a Strategic Delivery Analyst, you will provide the structure, analysis and insight that underpins our strategic change portfolio, helping leaders make better choices about priorities, investment and delivery.

Working closely with senior leaders, sponsors and delivery teams, you will:

• Maintain a single source of truth – bring together benefits, costs, resourcing and timelines to provide a reliable, decision-useful view of the strategic portfolio
• Support initiative intake and shaping – ensure new proposals are well‑defined, robust and commercially sound
• Provide analytical insight to inform decisions – test assumptions, model alternatives and develop clear scenario analysis and insight packs for Executive forums
• Identify trade‑offs and opportunities – highlight cross‑portfolio dependencies, constraints and optimisation opportunities
• Support delivery performance and assurance – analyse progress, identify emerging risks, and contribute to solving issues for in‑flight initiatives

You’ll also have the opportunity to work hands‑on across both strategy development and delivery, supporting initiatives to be clearly defined, well‑planned and delivered with pace. The role is about moving beyond reporting what has happened to explaining what it means and what Watercare should do next.

About you

You’re a highly analytical and commercially aware professional who enjoys making sense of complex information and translating it into meaningful insight.

You will bring:

• Proven experience in portfolio analytics, strategy, finance, consulting, commercial analysis or transformation roles
• Strong analytical capability and financial modelling skills
• Experience supporting business cases and executive decision‑making
• The ability to synthesise complex data into clear, concise insights and presentations
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain structured, accurate portfolio data
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

You are known for being:

• Highly analytical and structured, with a strong eye for detail
• Curious and confident in challenging assumptions with data
• Able to identify dependencies, constraints and risks across complex portfolios
• A clear and effective communicator, able to present insights in a compelling and practical way
