Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Qualified Sterile Sciences Technician or Trainee to join the team at Wellington Regional. The role focuses on decontamination and sterilisation of surgical instruments for theatres, wards, and departments.

Preference for qualified Sterile Sciences Technicians, but trainees are encouraged to apply. The role requires physical fitness, good communication and computer skills, and the ability to work rotating shifts across Wellington Regional Hospital

Qualifications

• Minimum L4 Certificate in Sterilising Technology or pathway to Technician Trainee.
• Experience in service/quality/process improvements.
• Membership in NZ Sterile Sciences Association (NZSSA).
• Able to work rotating shifts and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and sterilise surgical instruments for theatres, wards and departments.
• Maintain instrument sets, prepare for collection, and ensure sterile reprocessing workflow.
• Follow instructions and work with a positive, team‑oriented approach.
