Job summary

Discord seeks a Staff engineer to found the Enterprise Technology discipline, building a self-service platform for internal systems. You will replace manual consoles with API-driven provisioning for devices, identity, and infrastructure, guiding the platform's direction and standards.

You’ll design abstractions over Okta, Jamf, and Terraform, supporting CI/CD and scalable, auditable workflows from day one.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and operating production software and systems at a technology company.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; produce, test and ship production code in Python/TypeScript/Rust.
• Deep IAM experience (SSO, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC, RBAC) and fluency with IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD.
• Experience treating endpoint and fleet management as an API-driven engineering surface at scale.
• Platform-as-a-product mindset with self-service tooling adoption.

Responsibilities

• Manage device fleet as code and move configuration into API-driven infrastructure.
• Automate identity layer and CI/CD pipelines for deployments.
• Own app delivery and IaC deployment patterns with safe change management.
• Build self-service APIs, CLIs, and portals for automated access and memberships.
• Define technical direction and write RFCs/docs for future hires.
