Legal Services is one of the largest government in-house legal teams. The team provides advice, support, dispute resolution, civil litigation, prosecution and tax technical services for a broad range of customers across Inland Revenue.

As a Solicitor you would primarily work in the Advice/Technical Standards or Litigation work streams, depending on your preference and experience. A combination of Advice, Technical Standards and Litigation work may also be possible.

About the role:
Depending on your preference and experience, you may work on litigation matters, which includes appearing in court and working on civil, criminal and debt matters.
Alternatively, if you are more interested in undertaking tax technical work, you may provide advice and represent the Commissioner in relation to a broad range of matters, including investigations and tax disputes. You may also assist with the drafting and/or reviewing of externally published guidance, determinations, rulings and other materials.

The salary range for the Solicitor Level 1 role is $81,077 - $107,674 based on a standard 37-hour 55-minute work week. The salary offered will be based on skills and experience assessed during the interview stage. We also have a Flexible Working Policy whereby staff accumulate time credit for any overtime worked.
