Job summary

Innova Electrical & Solar is seeking a motivated Solar Trade Assistant to join our Auckland installation team. You will assist electricians with solar panel and inverter installation, ground mounting, and site setup across residential and commercial projects.

The role suits someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, values safety, and wants career growth in New Zealand's renewable energy sector. A NZ driver licence and basic tool knowledge are desirable, with on-the-job training available.

Qualifications

1–2 years of relevant experience in a trade assistant, labouring, construction, or general hand role.
Experience in the construction industry is highly beneficial for roof- and ground-mounted solar projects.
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather, including heights.
A full, clean New Zealand driver licence (or eligibility to obtain one).
Basic understanding of hand and power tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

Assist electricians and solar installers with installation of panels, inverters, and mounting systems.
Support ground mounting work, including post/pile installation and frame/rail assembly.
Carry, load, and unload equipment to and from job sites; prepare sites with scaffolding and safety barriers.
Assist with cabling, wiring runs, and general electrical support tasks under supervision.
Perform general labouring, site cleanup, and equipment maintenance; travel to sites as required.
