Job summary

The New Zealand Government is seeking a Social Worker (Child Development Services) to work at the Marlborough Health Hub. In this role, you will conduct assessments and deliver interventions for children aged 0-15 with disabilities while supporting their families in the health sector.

You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and provide ongoing support to whanau. The position is part-time, flexible hours are negotiable, and candidates must be registered with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (Tamariki) in a health and disability setting.
• Understanding of social determinants of health and their impact across all age ranges.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand or holding a valid New Zealand visa.

Responsibilities

• Conduct bio‑psychosocial assessments and deliver interventions for children and families in the Child Development Service.
• Support whanau as they navigate through the health and disability sector.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team providing client‑centred practice from a strengths perspective.
• Provide ongoing support to children (Tamariki) aged 0‑15 years who have a disability.
• Coordinate and follow up on services required by whanau within the health and disability system.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Registered with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board.
• Experience working with children (Tamariki) in a health and disability setting.
• Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive, proactive, and creative approach to problem‑solving.
• Understanding of social determinants of health and their impact across all age ranges.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand or holding a valid NewZealand visa.
• Current role is part‑time, 32hours per fortnight (0.4FTE); may be combined with another position up to 0.8FTE.
• No on‑call is required.
