Job summary

Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) in Invercargill is seeking an experienced and passionate registered social worker to join the Te Ata Māhina Bachelor of Social Work team as a Social Work Tutor. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both academic teaching and Field Education, helping prepare the next generation of social workers for safe, ethical, and competent professional practice.

Qualifications

Full registration with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB).
Minimum five years' post-qualification social work practice experience.
Master of Social Work qualification or recognised equivalent.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging teaching within the Bachelor of Social Work programme.
Support ākonga learning, achievement and professional development.
Contribute to field education activities including placement preparation, liaison, assessment, moderation, and integration of theory and practice.
Work closely with field educators, placement agencies and community partners.
Participate in programme review, development, research and quality assurance activities.
Promote culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments.
