Job summary

WSP NZ seeks a Digital Engineering Lead for water projects across Aotearoa NZ. You will drive digital delivery, model with Civil 3D/Plant 3D, and embed standards nationwide. Lead a team and influence at leadership level to raise quality and consistency in delivery.

You will shape digital engineering practices, mentor project teams, and champion BIM and ISO frameworks while delivering high‑quality, reliable outcomes for clients across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Hamilton.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in digital engineering within infrastructure or water projects.
• Familiarity with modelling standards and quality frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead digital delivery across water projects, including modelling and technical outputs.
• Establish and embed consistent modelling standards, workflows and quality frameworks.
• Act as technical advisor to Water Leadership Team on digital engineering practices.
• Drive improvements in tools, systems and processes to enhance efficiency and delivery.
• Coach and uplift capability within project teams across the country.
• Support the adoption and implementation of ISO 19650-aligned practices.
• Contribute to strategic direction for digital engineering in the water sector.
• Enhance client outcomes through high-quality, reliable digital delivery.

Digital Engineering Lead, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch
We're looking for a Digital Engineering Lead - Water to drive how we deliver water projects across Aotearoa. This is a pivotal role combining hands‑on project delivery with national influence‑shaping tools, standards, and ways of working to lift consistency, quality, and efficiency across our teams.
You'll play a key role in advancing our digital delivery capability, leading the adoption of best practice modelling, BIM, and digital engineering tools while supporting project teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes for our clients.
About you:

• Extensive experience in digital engineering within infrastructure or water, including strong expertise in Civil 3D and/or Plant 3D
• Proven ability to lead and embed digital delivery standards, workflows, and quality practices across teams
• A hands‑on approach, with the ability to contribute directly to project delivery while coaching others
• Experience supporting or leading digital transformation initiatives within engineering environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at both project and leadership level
• A passion for innovation and continuous improvement in digital delivery
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent industry experience
