Job summary

T&G Global Limited in Hastings is seeking a hands-on Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving packhouse equipment to achieve world-class uptime, working with production teams, contractors, suppliers and fellow engineers.

This role operates on a rotating roster during our 36-week packing season, requiring fault-finding, root cause analysis and a strong focus on health and safety.

Qualifications

• A recognised engineering trade qualification.
• At least 4 years’ experience maintaining production machinery.
• Experience working in a high-speed manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience using workshop machinery and tools.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with maintenance systems.
• A strong focus on workplace health and safety.
• The ability to work shifts and be flexible during the peak apple season.

Responsibilities

• Performing preventative maintenance across packhouse equipment.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults and breakdowns.
• Identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
• Supporting maintenance planning and work order management.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records within our CMMS system.
• Assisting with permits, compliance checks, and safety processes.
• Building strong relationships across operations, engineering, and external suppliers.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that increase reliability and performance.

We're looking for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team in Hastings. If you enjoy troubleshooting machinery, working in a fast-paced production environment, and take pride in finding the root cause of issues rather than just fixing symptoms, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Role

This role operates on a rotating roster during our 36-week packing season, so flexibility and adaptability are important to support changing operational needs.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

• A recognised engineering trade qualification
• At least 4 years’ experience maintaining production machinery
• Experience working in a high-speed manufacturing or production environmentStrong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills
• Experience using workshop machinery and tools
• Good computer skills and familiarity with maintenance systems
• A strong focus on workplace health and safety
• The ability to work shifts and be flexible during the peak apple season

It Would Be Advantageous If You Also Have

• Experience with MEX or a similar CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
• Experience in food manufacturing, processing, or packhouse operations
• Relevant certifications such as LOTO, Permit Issuer/Receiver, Working at Heights, or Confined Space
• Knowledge of PLCs, pneumatics, and automated systems
