This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), 2-year fixed-term appointment. The position can be based at the Manawatū or Albany campus or remote working options may be available.

The salary band for this position is NZD $86,113 - $103,956 (2026) pro rata based on skills and experience.

Reporting to the Head of the Institute of Education Te Kura o te Mātauranga and Director of Accredited Programmes, in association with the Kaihautū Māori and SLT programme leader, you will contribute to learning and teaching, professional and clinical practice, student supervision, scholarship, and service in speech language therapy programmes.

Our speech language therapy programmes include the Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy with Honours (BSLT[Hons]) and the Master of Speech and Language Therapy. The BSLT[Hons] programme prepares graduates to work with children, young people, and adults with speech, language, communication, voice, feeding and swallowing difficulties, combining academic study with extensive supervised clinical experience. The programme has a strong emphasis on integrated clinical learning, enabling students to progressively build competence through simulation, university clinics, and external placements under the supervision of experienced speech-language therapists.

The Master of Speech and Language Therapy provides qualified speech-language therapists with advanced clinical and research training, enabling them to deepen their expertise, engage with current issues in the profession, and contribute to evidence-informed practice and research. The distance programmes are enhanced through our Auckland-based Speech-language Therapy Clinic, which provides assessment and intervention services for children and adults with communication, voice, feeding, swallowing, and language needs, while offering an authentic clinical learning environment for speech-language therapy students under professional supervision.
