Job summary

Westpac New Zealand Limited is seeking a Senior Software Developer – IBM Mainframe to design, develop and maintain mainframe applications across batch and online processing. You will work with core banking platforms and connect with card-processing and customer systems, ensuring reliability, resilience and security.

You will contribute to testing, code reviews, releases and documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing after-hours production support when required.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in mainframe or host-based environments.
• Experience with batch and online/real-time processing.
• Experience with IBM MQ or enterprise messaging and system integration.
• At least 5 years experience with COBOL and CICS.
• Strong database, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of secure development and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain IBM Mainframe applications and services.
• Develop and support batch, online and system integration solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to testing, code reviews, releases and technical documentation.
