INSIDE Recruitment is seeking a Senior Manager Risk in Auckland or other NZ locations. You will work across the organisation to support effective enterprise risk management, partnering with senior leaders to identify, assess, monitor and report key risks, and contribute to governance-level reporting.
You will influence risk frameworks and processes, ensuring risks are visible, owned and actively managed, with credible challenge and practical insight for decision-making.
This is a senior enterprise risk role for someone who wants their work to be close to real business decisions.
You’ll be joining a large, complex New Zealand organisation with an established approach to risk management already in place. The foundations are strong, the work is visible, and the opportunity is to bring fresh thinking, sound judgement and practical challenge to an environment that is ready for the next layer of maturity.
This is not a role for someone who wants to simply maintain a risk register. It will suit someone who enjoys working with senior people, asking good questions, making sense of ambiguity, and turning complex issues into clear, useful insight.
As Senior Manager Risk, you will work across the organisation to support effective enterprise risk management.
You will partner with senior leaders to help identify, assess, monitor and report key risks. You will contribute to senior management and governance-level reporting, support the ongoing improvement of risk frameworks and processes, and help leaders make better-informed decisions.
The role works across a broad range of risk areas. These may include commercial, operational, regulatory, supplier, technology, project, financial, reputational and resilience-related risks.
You will not personally own every risk across the organisation. Your role is to help ensure the right risks are visible, well understood, appropriately owned, actively managed and clearly reported.
This is an influential role in a matrix environment, where outcomes are delivered through others. Success will come through credibility, relationships, judgement and the ability to bring people with you.
After 12 months, you will be known as someone who has lifted the quality of risk conversations across the organisation.
You will have built trust with senior leaders, improved the clarity of risk reporting, and helped connect risks that may otherwise have sat in separate parts of the business.
You will have brought useful challenge to an established risk environment, without trying to change things for the sake of it.
You will have helped make enterprise risk more practical, more visible and more useful to decision-making.
That is the heart of this role: making sure risk is not just reported, but understood.
You will be an experienced enterprise risk professional who can operate credibly with senior stakeholders while staying practical and grounded.
You may currently be in a role such as Senior Risk Manager, Enterprise Risk Manager, Risk Governance Manager, Principal Risk Advisor, Risk and Compliance Manager, Head of Risk and Assurance, or a comparable senior risk role.
Experience from large corporate, infrastructure, utilities, telecommunications, financial services, insurance, banking, government, Crown entity, listed company or other complex environments would be relevant.
The right person will be thoughtful, credible and commercially aware. You will be comfortable working with ambiguity, confident enough to challenge, and pragmatic enough to bring people with you.
This role will suit someone who wants enterprise risk to be useful, visible and connected to real business decisions.
Auckland is preferred, although candidates from other New Zealand locations may be considered where there is strong alignment to the role.
