Job summary

MBIE in Auckland is seeking a Senior Reporting Analyst to lead the reporting and business intelligence capability for the Business Registries. This permanent role shapes data strategy and information management across MBIE's regulatory services.

You will design and implement BI solutions, mentor the Reporting Team, collaborate with stakeholders across MBIE and external customers, and deliver data-driven insights to support decision making.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering high-quality reporting and analytics solutions in a complex environment.
  • Extensive experience with business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Strong expertise with SAP BusinessObjects, including Universe design and development, report creation, and dashboard development.
  • Experience translating business requirements into reporting solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex datasets and provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience leading projects, driving continuous improvement, and influencing decision making.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the reporting and business intelligence capability for Business Registries across MBIE.
  • Design, implement, administer, and continuously improve the intelligence and reporting environment.
  • Act as the business lead for data strategy and information management.
  • Support workflow management, capability development, and best-practice reporting within the Reporting Team.

About the Role - Tēnei tūranga

We're looking for an experienced Senior Reporting Analyst to lead our reporting and business intelligence capability and help shape the future of data and reporting across Business Registries. This is a senior technical and strategic role with responsibility for leading the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the Business Registries intelligence and reporting environment. You'll be the business lead for data strategy, driving strategic thinking around data opportunities, reporting capability, and information management.

You'll also play a key leadership role within the Reporting Team, supporting workflow management, capability development, and best practice reporting. Working across a geographically dispersed team based in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across Business Registries, MBIE, and external customers to deliver insightful reporting and data-driven decision making.
