Job summary

Emerge is a fast-growing New Zealand fintech reshaping what modern financial services can look like. As Senior Quality Engineer, you will bring strong automation capability into a small, experienced quality team to ship safely, quickly and with confidence.

You will write robust automated tests, work closely with developers, and provide evidence-based release readiness signals while moving quality earlier in the delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in test automation and quality engineering, ideally 7+ years.
• Experience building or extending automation frameworks and regression suites.
• Production experience with modern UI automation tools (Playwright/Cypress/WebdriverIO).
• Strong API testing experience across web/mobile/API components.
• Programming in TypeScript/Java/Kotlin with CI pipeline experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain risk-based test strategies from requirements to release.
• Build and extend automated regression across web, mobile, API, and contracts.
• Write and improve automated tests in CI and manage flaky tests.
• Collaborate with developers to test changes and improve testability early.
• Support release readiness with evidence, risk analysis and quality signals.
• Use AI tools to generate and maintain tests with human review.
• Grow quality engineering practices through standards and coaching.
