Job summary

The Warehouse Group in Auckland City, NZ, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Property to join our in-house team. You will advise on a broad property portfolio, including leases, acquisitions, and development projects, with autonomy and support from a small, collaborative legal group.

Reporting to the Chief Legal, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Officer, you’ll contribute to strategic risk management and AI-enabled workflows, with a flexible approach including a potential 4-day week.

Qualifications

• Current New Zealand practising certificate (or eligibility)
• 8+ years' PQE gained in private practice and/or in-house
• Strong expertise in commercial property law
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive and adaptable approach in a dynamic business
• Interest in AI to support legal teams

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and practical legal advice across a broad range of property matters.
• Assistance with lease renewals and rent reviews, and drafting commercial leases.
• Support new store acquisitions and developments, and property transactions.
• Manage legal risks across the retail property portfolio.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
