Job summary

Stantec is a global engineering and environmental consultancy seeking a Senior Power Project Manager to deliver Power Delivery projects across New Zealand. You will lead cross‑functional teams, manage budgets, timelines and risk, and build strong client relationships to ensure safe, timely and high-quality outcomes.

You will mentor rising leaders, contribute to capability development, and collaborate across business lines and geographies to grow our Power Delivery portfolio.

Qualifications

• 15 years relevant project management experience within the power and utilities sector.
• Proven experience managing utility, power systems, substation and/or transmission projects.
• Strong project management capability, including planning, execution, financial management, risk, quality, resourcing and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams, contractors and subconsultants.
• A strong track record of building and maintaining client relationships and delivering a high standard of client service.
• Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to lead, develop and mentor project managers and project delivery professionals.
• Strategic leadership capability, including setting direction, developing and implementing strategy, leading change and contributing to broader business objectives.
• Sound commercial judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, manage risk and develop practical, defensible solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, technical specialists, contractors, senior leaders and other stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership is preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protect health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following guidelines.
• Leading multi-disciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services for Power Delivery projects.
• Identify resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives and manage costs, schedule, and contract terms.
• Provide mentoring and training for future leaders, including succession planning.
• Develop client relationships to facilitate project activities.
• Promote collaboration and teamwork across geographies and business lines.
• Deliver projects safely, efficiently, on time and to a high standard.
