Job summary

MBIE in Wellington is seeking a Research and Data Analyst or Senior Research and Data Analyst to turn data into clear, evidence-based insights for investment decisions. You’ll build tools, reports, and analyses to tell MBIE’s science investment story and monitor performance.

We value strong quantitative and qualitative analysis, Excel/SQL/Power BI skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, SQL, PowerBI and other tools to manage, summarise, interpret, and present data.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• A tertiary qualification is preferred in a relevant discipline (e.g. statistics, science, social sciences), and/or extensive comparable experience in operational policy.
• Demonstrated experience using a range of evidence including data, research and other information from range of sources to provide the foundation for evidence‑based analysis.
• Experience coaching and training junior staff all candidates must have the legal right to live and work in NewZealand.
