Job summary

Trade Me in Canterbury is seeking an experienced Mobile Crane Operator for full-time mechanical engineering projects. You will safely operate a Mobile crane to support mechanical works, assisting with lifting and positioning of equipment on site.

The role requires at least 2 years of crane experience, knowledge of load charts, rigging, and site safety protocols. It offers weekly pay, permanent full-time hours, and a stable, hands-on environment with opportunities on complex piping projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of crane operation experience.
• Background in mechanical, piping, or industrial construction projects preferred.
• Deep understanding of load charts, lifting limits, rigging practices, and site safety protocols.
• Ability to read and execute lift plans and technical site procedures accurately.
• Physically fit with reliability and commitment to zero-harm safety.

Responsibilities

• Test the operation of plant before use to ensure safety.
• Operate crane controls to rotate, move, hoist, and hook loads.
• Coordinate with riggers to position loads and control movements.
• Monitor load speed, acceleration and braking, signaling to other operators.
• Check instruments and gauges for Malfunctions and issues.
• Lubricate ropes and winches; replace worn cables.
• Operate cranes with attachments for demolition and pile driving.
• Operate overhead cranes using hand controls suspended by cables.
