Job summary

Meridian Energy is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across asset types, guiding project delivery and resolving complex operational issues. You will mentor junior engineers and drive mechanical risk assessments and asset management planning.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and extensive experience in generation or engineering, plus strong stakeholder collaboration and compliance knowledge in the electricity sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Ideally 10+ years of professional experience in generation, consulting or engineering.
• Experience leading complex mechanical work scopes and cross-disciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to manage deliverables and stakeholders.
• Understanding of maintenance, projects and asset management.
• Knowledge of project delivery methodologies.
• Experience mentoring and reviewing others.
• Understanding of compliance, health and safety in the electricity industry.

Due to internal promotion, Meridian is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work across our different asset types to provide technical leadership during project delivery, provide advice on complex operational issues, lead investigations into plant failures, provide mechanical risk assessment and asset management planning.

The person in this role will also provide mentorship and support to junior team members with professional and technical leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with ideally at least 10 years professional experience in the generation consulting or engineering industry.
• Competence and experience with providing mechanical expertise to various stakeholders on complex challenges.
• Experience leading complex and technically challenging work scopes within the mechanical – and across other – engineering disciplines.
• Proven experience with effectively managing your own deliverables.
• Understanding and experience with maintenance, projects and asset management
• Knowledge and experience of project delivery methodologies.
• Experience in review and mentoring.
• Experience leading external consultants to deliver business needs.
• An understanding of compliance, health and safety, engineering and management practices within the electricity industry.
