We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our high performing team. This role requires experience in key focus areas such as healthcare, laboratory, mission-critical facilities, community and education facilities. A broad understanding of project lifecycles, asset management and the role of engineering design in delivering built environment solutions will be beneficial.
You will represent the company externally to our clients and play an active role in building and managing relationships, whilst reinforcing cultural behaviours across the Mechanical Team and the New Zealand Buildings Group. You will enjoy a diverse position and will need to have the ability to multitask and share your time between project delivery, business development and section performance.
You will demonstrate five years plus experience operating across a variety of client and project scales in New Zealand. The ability to contribute to a broad range of project types at a senior technical level will be required.
You will be involved with providing support and mentorship to Project Engineers providing delivery focus and achievement of technical excellence while keeping on track with quality, schedule, and budget.
Lead and contribute to the delivery of mechanical building services projects across sectors including health, data centres, education, industrial, and infrastructure.
Provide technical guidance and support to project engineers, helping ensure quality, coordination, programme, and budget outcomes are achieved.
Oversee design, documentation, project review, and construction-phase support in collaboration with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
Build trusted client relationships by understanding project needs and providing practical, future-focused engineering solutions.
Mentor and support team members, sharing your technical knowledge and helping foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Contribute to the ongoing development of Stantec’s engineering systems, standards, and quality processes.
Play an active role in strengthening team culture, supporting knowledge-sharing, professional development, and positive project outcomes.
Previous experience in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry
Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and ideally a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the engineering industry or consulting.
Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities
Ability to multitask between project involvement and section performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working towards being a Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent) and/or Producer Statement Author would be favourable, but not essential.
