The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tax Manager to take the next step in their career with a well‑established, multi‑partner CA firm, a long‑standing leader in the Waikato market. This role is heavily weighted towards strategic Tax Advisory.

Responsibilities
  • Leveraging your deep knowledge of tax legislation, case law, and IRD rulings to provide expert advice.
  • Leading and mentoring junior tax specialists, fostering their development and ensuring exceptional client service delivery.
  • Cultivating and strengthening client relationships, acting as their trusted advisor through clear and proactive communication.
  • Undertaking in-depth research to formulate well‑reasoned, analytical tax opinions and strategic advice.
  • Translating complex research into practical solutions for clients, evaluating various scenarios and potential risks.
  • Overseeing the tax lodgement programme and managing associated payment obligations.
  • Analysing financial statements to identify key implications for tax compliance and strategic planning.
  • Using your compliance expertise to proactively identify and assess tax planning opportunities for clients.
  • Providing holistic advice by applying your knowledge of broader financial matters relevant to your clients.
Qualifications
  • A CA designation or a relevant Law degree
  • At least five years of dedicated tax experience in New Zealand, preferably from a professional services or blended corporate/services background
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Superior analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • A professional and client‑centric approach
  • A commitment to teamwork and a collaborative, inclusive mindset
