Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Secondary & Protection Engineer to join our Auckland team and contribute to the delivery of transmission and distribution projects across New Zealand and the APAC region.

In this role you will work across projects up to 500kV, delivering protection and control engineering packages, developing schemes, settings and logic, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in secondary systems, protection and control engineering within the transmission and/or distribution sector.
• Experience designing protection, metering and control schemes for high-voltage power systems.
• Experience with protection studies, relay coordination, protection settings and logic configurations.
• Knowledge of substation control and communication systems, including IEC 61850.
• Experience producing, checking or reviewing technical engineering deliverables.
• Ability to contribute to or lead engineering activities across multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide secondary, protection and control engineering expertise across projects up to 500kV.
• Lead and deliver secondary, protection and control engineering packages.
• Develop protection, metering and control schemes, including protection settings, coordination studies and logic configurations.
• Produce and review single-line diagrams, panel layouts, interface schedules, I/O lists, interlocking and inter-tripping schemes.
• Apply IEC 61850 principles and substation communication standards to project solutions.
• Undertake technical reviews and provide checking, reviewing and approval of engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed project teams.
