Job summary

Rocket Lab in New Zealand seeks a Senior HITL Technician to own the harness design, build and test lifecycle for HITL simulators. You’ll install hardware, run software, sign off flight readiness, and mentor engineers and apprentices in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.

You’ll bring trade qualifications, 5+ years in electro-mechanical assembly, and meticulous attention to detail, with a commitment to safety, process discipline, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified in a relevant industry.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Precision harness assembly experience, and comfortable with high precision crimping, soldering, and harness termination.
• Comfortable working to exacting standards, including cleanliness for oxygen service.
• A sound understanding of industry standard ESD practice.
• Good eyesight and the ability to inspect wiring assemblies to a high workmanship standard.
• A working understanding of tool control and FOD awareness.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and test high quality harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Design and build racks and simulators end-to-end from harnessing to integration.
• Install hardware, network cabling, avionics, and simulator components.
• Software installation using microcontroller and FPGA programmers.
• Sign off flight hardware and software with quality validation.
• Operate and upgrade HITL simulators to keep missions on schedule.
• Troubleshoot integration issues and debug hardware with test tools.
• Maintain traceability of hardware serial numbers.
• Mentor engineers, technicians and apprentices to raise quality.
• Develop training modules with L&D and drive continuous improvement.
