Ora Banda Mining is seeking a Senior Geology Technician to lead coreyard activities on site and support underground Resource Definition and Exploration drill programs. You will oversee core processing, sampling targets, and mentor junior staff while maintaining QAQC standards.

The role requires extensive coreyard experience, a strong safety focus and the ability to work within a collaborative Geology team on site in Australia.

Qualifications

• Extensive grade control coreyard experience, 5+ years.
• Certificate III in Mining Exploration is desirable.
• Must have strong safety focus and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsabilités

• Lead day-to-day coreyard work by example: metre and orientation marking, core photography, cutting and sampling, QAQC inserts, and sample despatch.
• Set daily core preparation and sampling targets, and work with the Geology team on priorities.
• Train and mentor Geology Technicians and Graduate and Mine Geologists in quality, efficient core processing.
• Ensure data collection needs are defined and followed for each program (e.g. orientations, RQD, geomet).
• Liaise with underground drilling team and Drilling Supervisor to fix core presentation issues.
• Ensure paperwork and data entry follow QAQC procedures at all times.
• Manage coreyard supplies through Pronto orders and Davyhurst Stores, and maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Assist with underground mapping, sampling and sample despatch as required.

The role

Applications are sought for the position of Senior Geology Technicians.

• Lead day-to-day coreyard work by example: metre and orientation marking, core photography, cutting and sampling, QAQC inserts, and sample despatch. This supports underground Resource Definition and Exploration drill programs as part of OBM’s Drive to 150koz+.
• Set daily core preparation and sampling targets, and work with the Geology team on priorities so geology models are delivered on time.
• Train and mentor Geology Technicians and Graduate and Mine Geologists in quality, efficient core processing.
• Make the coreyard more efficient by agreeing data collection needs for each program (e.g. orientations, RQD, geomet).
• Liaise with the underground drilling team and Drilling Supervisor to fix core presentation issues quickly.
• Make sure sample paperwork and data entry are accurate and follow QAQC procedures at all times.
• Manage coreyard supplies through Pronto orders and Davyhurst Stores, and maintain equipment, vehicles and the coreyard.
• Help with underground mapping, sampling and sample despatch as required.

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• Extensive grade control coreyard experience - 5ys+
• Certificate III in Mining Exploration is desirable
• Enjoy a broad range of physical field related duties
• Broad knowledge of exploration and mining processes
• Current C class manual driver’s licence
• Current High Risk Work Licence (Forklift truck)
• Good communication skills - written and oral
• Computing skills
• Must have a strong safety focus
• Ability to work and manage effectively within a team
• Current First Aid certificate
• Ability to work unsupervised
• ERT experience and willingness to join OBM’s ERT is preferred
