Nelson City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Engagement Advisor to lead the design and delivery of inclusive, accessible and effective community engagement across complex, sensitive and high-profile work. You’ll help build relationships, frameworks and internal capability to strengthen participation across Council.

You will design and lead high-quality engagement processes, partner with iwi and Māori communities, and mentor junior advisors to embed genuine participation.

Qualificações

• Proven experience designing and delivering community engagement in a complex, public-facing environment.
• Experience leading engagement for complex, sensitive or high-profile projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of engagement practice, including the IAP2 framework and Local Government Act consultation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with diverse communities, including Māori, in a culturally responsive way.
• Experience mentoring or coaching others and building capability.
• Tertiary qualification in engagement, communications, social science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Responsabilidades

• Design and lead high-quality engagement processes that enable communities to participate and influence outcomes.
• Lead engagement for complex, high-profile or politically sensitive projects.
• Build trusted relationships with communities, organisations and stakeholders.
• Partner with Te Kāhui Whiria to engage with iwi, hapū and Māori communities.
• Develop practical frameworks, tools and guidance to improve engagement quality and consistency.
• Coach and support leaders and teams to embed genuine participation.
• Mentor Communications and Engagement Advisors and provide QA.
• Use engagement insights to support continuous improvement.
