Placements24 in Queenstown seeks a Senior Electrical Instrumentation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain instrumentation and control systems for industrial facilities. The role combines on-site collaboration with remote analysis, focusing on accuracy, reliability and safety of measurement and control loops.

You will work with sensors, transmitters, control valves, and DCS/PLC platforms, developing P&IDs, calibrating systems, and mentoring junior staff in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical instrumentation and control systems engineering.
• Proven experience with DCS and PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation).
• Strong understanding of process control principles, loop tuning, and advanced control strategies.
• Familiarity with field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety principles.
• Experience with CAD software for P&IDs and electrical drawings.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to adapt to a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify instrumentation and control systems for industrial processes.
• Select appropriate sensors, transmitters, control valves, and other instrumentation based on process requirements.
• Develop P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and control logic diagrams.
• Configure and program Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Develop and execute calibration, testing, and commissioning plans for instrumentation systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC) and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with project engineers, operations personnel, and maintenance teams.
• Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on new instrumentation technologies and automation trends.
