Job summary

New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) seeks a Director Sector Enablement and Assurance to provide strategic leadership across quality assurance, sector engagement, school support and learner pathways within the Assessment Division.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Assessment, you will lead senior managers and specialists to strengthen outcomes for learners and the wider education sector, using sector insights to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Extensive senior leadership experience in education or public sector.
Proven ability to lead system-wide functions and large teams.
Strong governance, risk management and regulatory know-how.
Experience with sector engagement and stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for sector enablement and assurance functions across the Assessment Division.
Lead, coach and develop leaders, building a high-performing, inclusive culture.
Oversee assurance frameworks, risk settings and regulatory practices.
Provide oversight of school quality assurance, audit, review and non-compliance functions.
Lead sector enablement approaches that engage schools, kura, providers and stakeholders.
Strategic oversight of qualifications pathways, ensuring relevance and equity.
