Job summary

Kiwibank in Wellington is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to help deliver a modern cloud-based data platform. You will work with a strong team to build data solutions in the cloud using code-first techniques and agile delivery.

You will write code and tests, contribute to CI/CD and DevSecOps, and collaborate with engineers to turn requirements into scalable, production-ready data services using Python, Terraform, AWS, DBT, Snowflake, and Airflow.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering data solutions from requirements to production using Scrum or another agile framework.
• Strong development and testing capability in Python or similar language.
• Interest in data, backend development and building solutions for engineers.
• Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with data lake technologies and API development.

This role is for a Senior Engineer - Data Platform with experience delivering solutions into the cloud using as code techniques. You’ll help deliver a modern cloud based data platform, bringing strong engineering practice, a passion for data and a collaborative mindset. This role is focused on delivering data solutions from requirements through to production using scrum, or another agile framework. You’ll write code and tests, contribute to CI/CD practices and work with engineers as your customers. Experience with Python, Terraform, AWS, DBT, Snowflake and Airflow will support your success, along with an interest in backend development, DevSecOps, data lake technologies, API development, Docker and enabling AI adoption within data platforms.

For this role we’re looking for a Senior data platform engineer who enjoys building cloud based solutions, writing quality code and working collaboratively with engineering teams. We would love to hear from you if you have experience in the following:

• Proven experience delivering data solutions from requirements to production using scrum or another agile framework
• Confident in Python or a similar language, with strong development and testing capability
• Strong interest in data, backend development and building solutions for engineers
• Experienced in DevSecOps and comfortable running what you build
• Proficient in cloud based data platform technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Snowflake, Airflow and DBT
• Experienced in supporting modern engineering practices across CI/CD, unit testing and as code techniques
• Confident in working with API development, Docker and data lake technologies
• Strong interest in implementing AI solutions or enabling AI adoption within data platforms
