The Insights & Analytics team are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join their team. As an analyst in this team you will find no day is the same. We do not just report on transport statistics – an analyst in the Insights & Analytics team undertakes research and analysis of complex and sensitive issues to bring evidence and insights into transport decisions.

Be part of a team that goes beyond the reporting of data to provide expert insights, data and evaluation for policy and strategy advice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking analyses of complex policy issues, leading development of innovative, practical, and robust modelling and analysis, and providing authoritative advice often in areas that are complex and sensitive.
  • Taking the lead and project managing analytic work.
  • Establishing and developing productive relationships with other transport sector agencies and the wider government sector.
  • Assisting in the implementation of a data, insights & analytics strategy across the transport sector.
  • Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only.
What you’ll bring | Te wāhi ki a koe

You need experience in working with large databases, problem-solving complex issues, and providing high quality analytics. You will provide expert and accurate advice using statistical and graphical techniques and be able to present these data and conclusions in different formats to different audiences.

The successful candidate will require the following skills and experience:

  • Strong background and experience in data and analytics.
  • An understanding of data, databases, and/or analytical tools (in particular a fluency in R, use of Git and AWS).
  • A demonstrated ability to think conceptually, and to translate new and emerging ideas into evidence-based insights and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to a broad range of audiences.

Salary range | Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau

Based on the level of experience required for this position, we're looking to appoint someone between $109,208 – $145,055 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
