About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our winning team. This is a great opportunity to push your career forward as part of an international leader in infrastructure.

We have an exciting and significant pipeline of work signed up, both short term and over next few years, for local, regional, and national clients. This work includes water/wastewater treatment plants, water supply and storage, pump stations, gravity and pressure conveyance pipelines, condition inspections, industrial plant upgrades, and 3W site serving for land development.

You will be living in a vibrant community where the active lifestyle thrives, with easy access for exploring New Zealand’s stunning southern mountains and lakes. With hiking, surfing, a world class stadium, wildlife, boutique breweries / bustling café scene and mountain biking on your doorstep, you won’t have to travel far to have adventures after work!

You will be working with a large, nurturing, and diverse team, that’s ranges from recent graduates to senior principals that are experts in their field. There are currently approximately 50 staff in the Dunedin water team and 70 staff in the Dunedin office.

Key aspects of the role
  • Lead on assigned projects to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards

  • Determine client requirements, conduct and manage site surveys and investigations, produce calculations, cost estimates, specifications and drawings to ensure that technical designs provide quality solutions

  • Organise tender documents, evaluate tenders and contracts.

  • Develop and mentor junior staff

  • Liaise continually with our clients to ensure that their expectations are met and that any concerns are heard and addressed appropriately

  • Clearly understand the objectives of new and existing clients in order to undertake effective business development and identification of opportunities for Stantec.

  • Produce quality project outputs, ensuring scope changes are closely monitored and design work is adequately resourced, reviewed and programmed.

What you will bring

You will be an experienced Civil Engineer with experience in general civil engineering projects, especially Water infrastructure. You have a passion for quality and timely project delivery, developing technical skills and growing your commercial understanding at a global consulting firm.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
