Job summary

Waikato Regional Council is seeking a Senior Catchment Management Officer to promote and lead catchment work across the West Coast Zone. Based in Hamilton, you will plan and deliver soil conservation, erosion control, plant pest control and riparian enhancement projects.

You will engage with landowners, Iwi, and communities, manage programmes and budgets, and provide guidance while ensuring excellent customer service. A tertiary qualification and 6+ years' experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years' work experience.
  • Experience in erosion control and land management.
  • Experience delivering restoration projects, including erosion control, weed control, native planting, and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in project/contract management.
  • Willingness to operate outside of 'normal' working hours when required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote catchment management work with landowners and iwi.
  • Plan, supervise and deliver catchment management projects.
  • Develop catchment work programmes, plans and budgets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and ratepayers.
  • Provide ongoing advice and information.
