Job summary

Jacobs in New Zealand is seeking a Principal Bridge Engineer to lead seismic design and bridge engineering across major infrastructure projects in NZ, Australia, and beyond. The role is based in New Zealand with a hybrid working policy across Christchurch, Auckland, and Wellington.

You will act as a technical authority, review designs, provide producer statements, and mentor junior engineers while expanding client relationships to win new work.

Qualifications

• Deep technical knowledge across bridge engineering and horizontal infrastructure.
• Proven experience in seismic design to the NZ Bridge Manual.
• Auckland Council registration for design sign-off is preferred.
• The ability to work across diverse infrastructure projects.
• Communicates effectively and builds enduring client relationships while supporting and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert design review and sign-offs on projects.
• Review and challenge designs, and sign off on producer statements.
• Lead high-level guidance on projects while building client relationships to secure new opportunities.
• Collaborate with design teams and interact with clients and contractors.
