Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus to join our fintech client in Queenstown. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems powering our financial services platform, with an emphasis on clean code, performance, and robust APIs.

The role offers a hybrid work model, collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in backend development and expertise across Java, Python, Go, or C#,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or C#.
• Strong RESTful API design and development experience.
• Relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL databases knowledge.
• Experience with microservices architecture and patterns.
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) are a plus.
• Git version control experience.
• Hybrid work experience and strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with frontend teams, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement and maintain robust database solutions with data security in mind.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues in production and development.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy.
• Stay current with emerging backend technologies and best practices.
