Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking an experienced Electronics/Avionics Engineer to join the Electron Avionics team in Auckland. You will develop PCBs and avionics systems for flight hardware, guiding them from requirements to environmental testing and production.

This hands-on role spans full avionics architecture, including flight computers, high‑voltage powertrains, sensor networks, and fault-tolerant systems. You’ll debug, optimise for manufacturing, and lead design reviews.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering or exceptional ability.
4+ years hands-on experience developing reliable electronics.
Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools and circuit simulation.

Responsibilities

Own avionics hardware through full lifecycle: requirements, schematic capture, layout, bring-up, testing, production.
Develop PCB designs for high-voltage powertrains and flight computers with analogue sensing circuits.
Prepare and release manufacturing docs; maintain design libraries and BOMs.
Lead bring-up and verification; environmental testing (TVAC, shock, vibration, EMI/EMC).
Provide technical leadership, reviews, and mentoring across the avionics team.
