Department of Internal Affairs in Wellington is seeking a Senior AML Regulator to lead complex regulatory work and shape AML/CFT regulation in Aotearoa. You will assess risks, engage with businesses and influence outcomes in a modern, data‑driven regulator.

We value strategic judgement, clear writing and strong stakeholder relations as you guide investigations and enforcement while supporting professional development within Regulation and Identity Services.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in regulation, compliance, investigations, fraud, audit, financial crime or law.
• Ability to lead complex work and influence without formal people-management responsibility.
• AML/CFT knowledge is desirable with strong judgement and written communication.

• Lead complex regulatory assessments, investigations and interventions with confidence and sound judgement.
• Analyses complex or incomplete information to make clear, evidence-based and proportionate decisions.
• Identifies emerging and system-level risks and translates them into practical action.
