About the role

Our Finance function delivers critical services that underpin the success and long‑term financial sustainability of Police - from ensuring our people and suppliers are paid to maintaining compliance with public sector legislation and standards. We are trusted to provide strategic and practical financial advice to support sound decision making, delivering value for money, and effective stewardship of public funds. To support the delivery of these outcomes, the Financial Analysis and Reporting (FA&R) team is responsible for leading, establishing and embedding an integrated financial analysis and reporting approach across the business to operationalise strategy, make investment choices that are aligned to our strategy, and manage changes in a sustainable way. The FA&R team are trusted advisors to the business, providing strategic, commercial and financial advice across Police, from the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to Senior leaders and their teams. The team delivers financial analysis and financial performance reporting and tracks delivery against our Strategy. We are now seeking a Senior Advisor – Financial Analysis and Reporting to join our high‑performing team. This role is the senior functional leader with a strategic focus within the FA&R team. This role leads the delivery of complex financial analysis, modelling, reporting and strategic insights that support executive and organisational decision-making. The position provides strategic advice on financial performance, fiscal risks, emerging issues and opportunities, while ensuring reporting products and analytical outputs are accurate, timely and fit for purpose.

Special requirements

• This role is based at Police National Headquarters, Wellington.
• Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ), CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 5+ years’ experience leading financial analysis, reporting, forecasting within a medium to large organisation.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement, and total remuneration will commence between $142,124 - $157,916 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
