Job summary

Hortus is seeking a Seasonal Vineyard/Orchard Worker to support vineyard and orchard operations across Hawke’s Bay. You’ll work outdoors as part of a team, performing practical tasks during the season.

No formal qualifications or driver’s licence required; travel between sites across Hawke’s Bay is common and transport can be arranged from Hastings.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit for labour-intensive outdoor work.
• Able to regularly bend, stretch, crouch and perform other physical tasks.
• Willing to work across Hawke’s Bay in different locations.
• No formal qualifications or driver’s licence required.

About the role

As a Seasonal Vineyard/Orchard Worker, you’ll help keep vineyards and orchards in good shape throughout the season. You’ll work outdoors as part of a team, completing a variety of practical tasks that support the day-to‑day running of vineyard and orchard operations.Work locations may change depending on operational requirements, so you’ll need to be comfortable travelling to different sites across the Hawke’s Bay region. Transport is provided from a central Hastings location if you need it.

Your day-to-day work may include:

• Apple thinning
• Vineyard and orchard maintenance
• Wire lifting and dropping
• Trellis work, pruning and stripping
• Vine painting and training young vines
• Other general outdoor tasks as required

You’ll be a good fit for this role if you:

• Are physically fit and comfortable with labour-intensive outdoor work
• Can manage regular bending, stretching, crouching and other physical tasks
• Are happy working in a range of weather conditions
• Are reliable, hardworking and willing to learn
• Can work well with people from different backgrounds and cultures
• Are flexible about working at different locations across Hawke’s Bay

Previous vineyard or orchard experience is an advantage, but it’s not essential. No formal qualifications or driver licence are required.
